The radula is the powerful tongue of the snail. These animals are fascinating creatures, often underestimated because of their slowness and inconspicuous appearance. But beneath the surface lies an amazing world of adaptability and survival skills. The radula, as a tool for crushing and ingesting essentials, embodies strength and determination. There is a common thread that runs through the entire work: Outsiders, “friendly monsters”, hybrid creatures and silent rebels populate painterly, sculptural and installation works. They are surreal experimental arrangements. Norms are questioned, the finger is pointed at social pressure points: What is gender? What is family? And who decides what is normal?
